Speaking Part 1

Studies (or Job)

Are you a full-time student at the moment?

Yes, I am a full-time student, currently studying in secondary school. My main focus is on academics, as I need to prepare for future opportunities. Education is a top priority at this stage of my life, so I don’t have any part-time job. However, I also try to balance my studies with hobbies and leisure activities.

Where do you study?

I study at a well-known secondary school in Ho Chi Minh City. The school has a good reputation for its teaching quality and modern facilities. The teachers are supportive, and the environment helps students to learn effectively. I enjoy my time there, even though schoolwork can sometimes be stressful.

How long have you studied there?

I have been studying at this school for several years since I entered secondary education. It feels like time has flown by, and I have had many good and challenging experiences. Over the years, I have made great friends and developed both academically and personally. Looking back, I realize how much I’ve grown.

Is it far from your home?

No, my school is quite close to my home, which is very convenient. I can reach it within a short time, either by walking or taking a quick ride. This saves me a lot of time and energy compared to students who have to commute long distances. It also allows me to have more time for studying and other activities.

What job would you like to have in the future?

I am not completely sure yet, but I am interested in fields like technology or business. These industries are constantly evolving and offer a lot of opportunities for growth. I want to do something that allows me to be creative and solve problems. If I developed the right skills, I might pursue a career related to programming or entrepreneurship.

Food and Restaurants

Do you often eat out in restaurants, cafés, and so on?

I don’t eat out very often, but I do enjoy it from time to time. Most of the time, I eat home-cooked meals because they are healthier and more affordable. However, on special occasions or when I want to try something new, I go to restaurants or cafés with my family or friends. Eating out is a great way to experience different flavors and cuisines.

How do you choose where to go when you want to eat out?

I consider the type of food, price, and customer reviews before deciding on a place. If I am with friends, we usually discuss what kind of food we’re in the mood for. I also check online reviews to see if a restaurant has good service and quality dishes. Of course, budget matters too, so I prefer places that are affordable but still offer delicious food.

Are fast-food restaurants such as burger bars popular in your country?

Yes, fast-food restaurants are quite popular, especially among young people. Chains like McDonald’s, KFC, and Lotteria are always busy, especially on weekends. Fast food is convenient, tasty, and sometimes cheaper than eating at a full-service restaurant. However, people are also becoming more aware of health issues, so some try to limit their fast-food intake.

Do you ever cook for yourself or other people?

Yes, I sometimes cook simple dishes for myself and my family. Cooking is a valuable skill, and I enjoy experimenting with different recipes. Although I am not an expert, I can make basic meals like fried rice, noodles, and some Vietnamese dishes. It gives me a sense of independence, and it’s fun to prepare food that others enjoy.

Can you recommend a restaurant in your hometown?

Yes, there’s a famous local restaurant in my city that serves delicious Vietnamese dishes. It’s known for its fresh ingredients, authentic flavors, and reasonable prices. The place has a cozy atmosphere, making it a great spot for both family gatherings and casual meals with friends. If you ever visit Ho Chi Minh City, it’s definitely worth trying.

Speaking Part 2: Describe a Film You Enjoyed

One film that I really enjoyed watching was Avengers: Endgame, which was made in the USA. It’s a superhero action movie produced by Marvel Studios, and it became a worldwide sensation.

The movie revolves around the Avengers, a group of superheroes, who come together to fight against Thanos, a powerful villain who wiped out half of all life in the universe. The story picks up after the previous film, Avengers: Infinity War, where Thanos succeeded in his plan. In Endgame, the remaining heroes devise a way to reverse what he did by traveling back in time to collect the Infinity Stones before Thanos can use them. The final battle is absolutely breathtaking, with all the heroes joining forces for an epic showdown.

What made this movie stand out for me was not just the action-packed sequences but also the emotional depth. The film hit me like a ton of bricks, especially the sacrifice scenes of major characters. The dialogues were so well-written that they stuck with me long after watching.

Moreover, the special effects were top-notch, making every fight scene visually stunning. The film also had a great mix of humor, action, and drama, which kept me on the edge of my seat. It was the perfect rollercoaster ride of emotions, and that’s why it remains one of my favorite movies.

Speaking Part 3

Is going to the cinema more or less popular than it used to be?

Well, if you ask me, I’d say going to the cinema is less popular now than it used to be. You know, in the past, watching movies in theaters was a special experience, but now, streaming services have changed the game. Platforms like Netflix, Disney+, and HBO Max allow people to watch films from the comfort of their homes. To be honest, many people find it more convenient and cost-effective since they can pause, rewind, or watch at their own pace. That said, some still prefer the cinema experience because of the large screen, surround sound, and social aspect. In the future, I guess cinemas may need to offer more unique experiences to stay relevant.

What are the most popular types of films among people you know?

That’s an interesting question. Let me think for a second… Oh, right! The most popular film genres among my friends are action, comedy, and sci-fi. Action movies are full of excitement and keep viewers on the edge of their seats. Comedies, on the other hand, are great for relieving stress and sharing laughs with friends. And then, you have sci-fi films, which spark curiosity and imagination by exploring futuristic or fantasy concepts. Some people also enjoy horror movies, but not everyone likes being scared. I guess, in the end, the type of movie people prefer often depends on their mood and personality.

Do you think there’s too much violence in films?

Hmm, that’s a tricky one. Well, in my opinion, some movies contain excessive violence, which can be disturbing. While action and crime films naturally include fights and conflicts, some go too far with graphic content. I mean, this can desensitize viewers, especially young audiences, and make violence seem normal. In some cases, it might even influence aggressive behavior in real life. That being said, I believe violence in movies can be acceptable if it serves the story rather than just being there for shock value. So, I think filmmakers should find a balance between storytelling and responsible content.

Should there be more films made for children?

Oh, that’s a great question! If you ask me, I’d say yes, more high-quality films for children should be produced. You see, movies are a great way for kids to learn important values such as kindness, teamwork, and honesty. Many modern films for children also include educational elements, helping them develop creativity and problem-solving skills. That said, it’s important that these films are engaging and not just made for profit. If done well, children’s films can have a lasting positive impact on young minds. And, of course, parents should also ensure that the films their kids watch are appropriate for their age.

Do films influence other things—fashion, for example?

Oh, without a doubt! You know, films have a huge influence on fashion, lifestyle, and even language. Many people try to copy the clothing styles of their favorite movie characters. For example, superhero movies often inspire T-shirts, jackets, and accessories based on famous characters. Besides fashion, movies can also shape trends in makeup, hairstyles, and even behavior. Oh, and let’s not forget—some phrases from famous films even become part of everyday speech! Overall, I think the entertainment industry plays a big role in shaping modern culture.

Do you think the media invade the privacy of film stars or put them under too much pressure?

Well, to be honest, I think celebrities often have their privacy invaded by the media. You see, paparazzi constantly follow them, trying to capture every detail of their personal lives. And the thing is, even a small mistake can be blown out of proportion by the press, leading to unnecessary scandals. This constant attention can be overwhelming and take a toll on their mental health. Of course, being in the public eye is part of being a celebrity, but they still deserve some level of privacy. So, in my opinion, the media should focus more on their work rather than their personal lives.

Do you think films will continue to be an important form of entertainment?

Oh, absolutely! You know, films will always be an important form of entertainment, no matter how technology changes. They provide a way for people to escape reality, experience new emotions, and learn about different cultures. While the way people watch films may evolve, I really believe storytelling through cinema will never disappear. After all, movies have the power to inspire, educate, and bring people together. And as long as there are creative minds, films will continue to be a big part of our lives. The industry just needs to adapt to new trends and audience preferences.
